Cottages of Dreams

Hello honey, I found some pictures of some cottages and I saw this one with the sheep coming home. Not sure what it means but I thought you might like it. I know sheep has something to do with a special occasion for you.

I remember when I was a child living on the pacific coast in a small town called Half Moon Bay. We had a few sheep of our own there. Maybe three or four. And one day when we came home they were running through our house.

We had to catch them and put them back in their fenced area. I remember they were jumping on the beds. What great fun for a 5 year old child to see.

What does the Beauty and the Beast(Above in French La Belle et la Bête) have to do with us? Well for one Nadia is definitely a beauty. Very lovely in many ways. Not just her physical beauty but her inner-beauty. She so sweet and kind. Good hearted and a very loving woman.

Now as for me(Jerry) I like to consider myself the beast. I don't have movie star looks. Not by a long shot. I do have my attributes however. But somehow this fairly tale is suitable for us.

In the story the beauty weeps over him, saying that she loves him. When her tears strike him, the Beast comes back to life and is transformed into a handsome prince.

Well I am like him. Since Nadia makes me feel loved and good about myself. She has tranformed me into a prince. So now I feel handsome and worthy. lol

They have had many great plays of the Beauty and the Beast. Movies animated and film, you name it. And many wonderful actors and actresses playing the parts.

And now it is starring us. Jerry and Nadia in the great love story and timeless treasure! Played for now in their virtual environments, online messaging. The love is real and true. Our bond is getting closer all of the time. Close and loving.

Together we will stand the test of time. Hugs and love forever for La Belle et la Bête. The drama continues online and into a real and true connection of their hearts. WOW!

Taking on a new language may seem daunting at first. So much that many of us only dream of it. To understand a language that you were not brought up learning is a great accomplishment. Having a second language that you learned on your own is very impressive.

I have made a decision to learn French as a second language. I made this decision because of Nadia. She got me interested in it since it is one of her second languages. Her first language is Arabic. And her second languages are French and English. And just knowing she speaks so well in all three I could at least have one additional language under my belt.

I believe what inspired me was how the language sounds when she speaks it. It sounds sweet at times. Melodic in many ways. Flows smoothly. It can be enjoyable even when not understood. A style about it.

I know this is just the beginning of a long process. It is not a guarantee that I will become native-like in my new language but I will enjoy climbing the mountain. I found a great wikipedia page on this. Here is an excerpt from it. It says "Despite persistent efforts, most learners of a second language will never become fully native-like in it, although with practice considerable fluency can be achieved". One interesting thing I read on it that comes to mind was something called "fossilization". They said this occurs when language errors become a permanent feature". I don't like this socalled "permanent feature" concept. I know a woman that has a very extensive vocabulary in her second language(english) but just can't construct her sentences right. Months of correction didn't seem to help.

I would say these language experts would say that fossilization has occured and she has now permanent errors to contend with. I don't like that idea. Let me analogize with guitar playing. Am I a fossilized guitar player since I play a song that I just learned with errors? The song is a little complex that requires some practice but I just haven't put my time in. I haven't immersed myself enough with studying the chord pattern or arpeggio finger style I need to make it sound right.

I say this woman I know needs immersion. I think this fossilization concept is just a big word they want to attach to something that makes them feel like they know what they are talking about. We can label anything we want a disorder of sorts and type it out as if it is God's truth.

I don't like to say that these errors in one's second language are permanent. Nothing is permanent if you just put great effort into it. Study study study is what I say. But better yet how about immersion, immersion, immersion, for even better results.

Ok this is rediculous. I was dedicating this site to my love Nadia and I got off the romanticized subject matter(sorry honey if you are reading this lol) but I just wanted to kind of document the beginnings of my language study. I will bring it back to a romantic tone by saying French is one of the Romance languages. Yes there is another wiki on that. I am all about wiki aren't I?

So maybe in a few months I can spend a loving evening with Nadia speaking all in French. Sure it might be broken French at that stage but it will make for a very interesting evening. I will try and build my vocabulary with all the sweet and loving words to pepper my expressions with. That suave and debonair man will finally arrive!
